That kind of generosity of spirit may be endearing and all, but it isn't going to help him one bit in a general election against a warrior like John McCain. The GOP will jump all over Obama's "kindness" and shove it down his liberal throat. He's Dukakis all over again, mark my words!
He didn't nod off, he was talking to Obama while the debate was focused on other people on the panel and then the moderator switched back to him. Obama had kept track of what was being discussed and did Richardson a soiid.
And really, do you think Palin would have been able to articulate a four point plan on Katrina even if she was paying attention to the debate at every moment?
I certainly feel warmer and fuzzier about the global economy than at any time during the last eight years.

Either way, he's still not paying attention. I'm sure when he's sitting down with the Big 3 and the UAW, the CEOs and labor leaders won't mind at all if Richardson lets his thoughts drift during the middle of negotiations and has to be reminded what they're discussing.
Bill needs to lay off the medical marijuana. Just kidding.
Farris: There's a difference between forgetting the topic, and not being prepared to tackle the issue behind the topic. No one gave Bush flack for reading "My Pet Goat" on 9/11, after all...Oh, and considering you voted for a guy who didn't even know we had $4+ gas just a few months ago, it's kind of arrogant to prematurely criticize Richardson's ability to tackle economic issues.
Deathtongue: It undermines his perjury excuse, because it proves Starr has a problem with people's personal lives, since he clearly had no "moral" reason to support Prop. 8 like he did with that "investigation".

Your next Commerce Secretary, Ladies and Gentlemen!!! Just makes you feel all warm & fuzzy about the economy, doesn't it?
One can only imagine the mileage Jeff & others would have gotten if Sarah Palin had been the one to nod off during a debate.

On an unrelated note, looks like Ken Starr also supports Prop. 8, thus undermining that perjury excuse he used to prosecute Clinton. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20081220/ap_on_re_us/gay_marriage_lawsuits

Much like a car wreck, I would almost like to read just how the Prop 8 support leads to undermining Starr's perjury excuse.
That said, it's bad enough to hijack a thread off topic to begin with, but to add insult to annoyance, it's not even of a film related note.
D.Z., perhaps you would be better served on the political boards over at Craigslist.
