Jeff, why do you keep linking to this 'carpetbagger' nonsense. He's perfectly amiable and I'm told has written a knockout account of his erstwhile crack habit but when it comes to the Oscars he knows nothing. He radiantly exudes pure ignorance.
He doesn't have the faintest idea about the Oscars, he said on his blog at the outset he hadn't seen any of the films and he did a blog on The Reader premiere where he had spoken to both Rudin and Weinstein about it- one of the only journalists to do so- and not got anything approaching the inside track. He didn't quote either of them.
There's probably a more informed Oscar observer out there who doesn't rely on gimmicks, who has a clue about all this and who doesn't work for a behemoth like the NYT. Find him or her...

Does blogging from a basement increase or decrease his credibility? Cute bit w/ Wall-E.
