How did the NBR give eastwood best actor for GT. Its a bit of a joke and a bit shameless of them, if you ask me. Eastwood's growls are almost like a caricature.

Actually, GRAN TORINO will be a hit (particularly between the coasts)--and may even lure the first=-generation Eastwood fans who loved him from roughly 1967 to the early 90s back to theatres. But, being a throwback to the old Eastwood formula pictures instead of a gravitas-infused conscious work of art, it's unlikely to get much critical or Academy love.

TVM: If Rambo couldn't score big, Gran Torino will have a harder time. I'm just surprised to read Dark Horizons and find out that Frost/Nixon had a good PTA.
