"You know when you're young and you see a play in high school, and the guys all have gray in their hair and they're trying to be old men and they have no idea what that's like? It's just that stupid the other way around." -- Clint Eastwood explaining to N.Y. Times writer Bruce Headlam on why he won't play younger characters. And it doesn't matter if New York/Vulture quoted this line first. So what?

Eastwood a vegan! Ha! His dismissal of the internet is just about perfect.

I just watched A Fistful of Dollars again last night. Clint may be 78, but he never gets old.

I know you didn't mean that literally, Rich S., but of course Clint IS old, and smart enough to know it. One more reason to respect and admire Phase 3 of his career and work as much (if not more) than I respect and admire Parts 1 and 2.

“There’s nothing wrong with coming in to play the butler. But unless there’s a hurdle to get over, I’d rather just stay behind the camera.”
Did Clint just take a crack at Michael Caine? Or am I just inundated with The Dark Knight these past 72 hours?

That's great that Clint doesn't follow older stars' usual rule-of-thumb of playing ten years younger than his/her actual age (i.e. Paul Newman in NOBODY'S FOOL).

Eastwood did not get a Best Actor nomination from the Globes. If I were an Atheist, I might have to reconsider my position.

You make a habit of stealing bits and pieces other people dug up and pretending that you found them. It's just nice to give credit and doesn't diminish you in any way. Anyone who doesn't do that online is just kind of selfish and won't get any tit for tat.

Eastwood has lived in Carmel for over 20 years and in California for most of his life, and has to be told what a vegan is? Does anyone here buy this?

Is that also why he can't play different characters?

Who was asking Clint to play characters younger than himself?

What the article underscores is that regardless of your opinion of Clint as director, Clint as actor, Clint as musician, Clint as mayor, etc., one fact will always remain:
Clint is the epitome of cool.
