Clint vs. Brides

Today begins a weekend battle between the widely despised Bride Wars (12% positive on Rotten Tomatoes, a zero rating from the creme de la creme), which is expected to do well anyway because (a) it's a wedding comedy with Kate Hudson and Anne Hathaway and (b) there are many millions of under-30 women out there with zero taste in film, and Clint Eastwood's well-reviewed, very fine Gran Torino, which is tracking very well among the over-35s.

Bride Wars will win, of course, but Gran Torino, many are saying, will play better over the long haul. It will ultimately end up with over $100 million , and of course it has the respect and allegiance of the Movie Gods. Bride Wars arrives at theatres already damned -- excommunicate and anathema -- and has absolutely nothing to look forward to, beyond the mere earning of money. Hudson is the definitive fallen angel of youngish movie actress -- a woman who managed to kill all respect for herself by starring in a long series of tedious, close to unwatchable films.

I'll definitely be seeing Revolutionary Road tomorrow. Hopefully Gran Torino on Sunday.

I wish nothing but complete & total failure for "Bride Wars" & every human being involved in allowing the movie to be created...I'm talking I wish epic failure on them.

Bride Wars-Why is Kate Hubson still making movies? What kind of woman will watch this movie? I can see them in the theater, a bunch of them, because they always move in a pack, never alone. They will laugh and think it's a great show.
Gran Torino-Judging from the trailers, should be good. Will Clint get an oscar nomination for this? I remember those cars back in the 1970's.

How can Hudson look herself in the mirror? How much money does she need?

I honestly cannot stand Kate Hudson at all. She, along with Gwyneth Paltrow, get on my fucking nerves and piss me off so much with the privileged, rich, snooty L.A air that they put on. They can't act worth a shit, but geez! they get all the acting roles in movies because they have famous acting parents!!!

I wish nothing but career failures for both of them.

and I hope Bride Wars flops.

I'd actually rather drag myself to 'Bride Wars' than have to sit through 'Gran Torino' again.

Get over it. Because of Oscar craving the industry loses heaps of money making financially suicidal films for the likes of us. Look at Jeff's September bubble and see how many of those flicks will break even let alone make a profit. Crap like Bride Wars pays the tab for the good stuff.

Anyways, Kate Hudson just pisses you guys off because she reminds you of the pretty, smart girl who you had a crush on and who instead dumbed herself up and dated the varsity quarterback. And is now married to an investment banker, working in PR in a big fat house with cute kids and you're green with envy.

Nah. None of that is the case. At least for me. I detest Hudson because she has NO TALENT and her taste in scripts is comparable to the taste of my derrier after a night of bad Chinese food.

plastiqueelephant, please.

I'd rather be jealous of Angelina Jolie than Kate Hudson.

Try again next time.

Dude, you either aren't familiar with Deaf's gender, or you're making one giant leap about her sexuality.

Either way, you come off as a clueless jackass. Congrats.

So much hyperbole in such close quarters!

Kate Hudson has "NO TALENT," and to such extreme measures that the assessment requires all caps. Brilliant exposition.

Hudson -- and Gwyneth Paltrow, arbitrarily enough -- "get on my fucking nerves and piss me off so much" because, well, they "can't act worth a shit." Such prose.

And still, nothing can top eternal damnation: "I wish nothing but complete & total failure for "Bride Wars" & every human being involved in allowing the movie to be created." You have a genie on standby, or just going to hedge your bets on the first star you see tonight?

Must be hard getting by, the day-to-day, with such real problems, the continuous, deeply personal persecution inflicted upon indignant man-children by Kate Hudson. Who does she think she is doing that to you? I mean, she can't even act worth a shit!!

Meanwhile, while falling quickly through the clouds since her angelic debut in "Almost Famous," Hudson has managed to buoy a handful of generic, harmless, featherweight romantic comedies totally on the merits -- however saccharine -- of her widely appealing charisma and impeccable comic timing within the proven formula. It's not rocket science.
