The guy in the centre: his time at the tiller might have veered off in a few misguided directions.
But he's the most decent, kindest, straightforward, honest one of the lot. History will be kinder to him than we realize...

I shudder to think about how history will paint Bush Jr.

Look at Russia, BBC reported that Stalin has been voted as "most important Russian" by many Russians, despite his bloody, murderous past. How repulsive.

Looking at this picture, I wonder how many will be alive in 4 years, when, hopefully, Obama wins.
Carter on the right and Bush Sr. on the left. The only two who went to the naval academy. Two completely different political philosophies, yet both served in the military. I find that intriguing.
Who is Bush looking at off camera? Cheney?

Deaf - Depressing, I guess...but I think they're talking "important" more like "famous" than "noble" or "proactive." If I were to put a gun to your head and name a famous Austrian, I'm thinking the chances are pretty good that you'd come up with Hitler before Freud or Schwarzenegger.

I get the vibe that Jimmy's not one of the cool kids.

Also, this shot reminds me of that Jack Lemmon/James Garner presidential odd couple comedy My Fellow Americans. I wonder what they're saying under their breath.

Big Bill has lost some weight. Good for him. I don't know if it's his eyeline or what but it does look a bit like someone photo-shopped W into there.

Do you realize that even after he leaves that dude will always get to be called Mr. President? That he'll be, like, a historical figure? Crazy!

Only a dishonest GOP partisan can write shit like that and not mean Carter. And history has already weighed in on it.

"Shrub" on the other hand, will see his reputation sink lower each year as the cloak that Cheney, et al threw around the administration is removed by time.

Prager, my respect for Bush's courage and integrity is reinforced by that Irish interview. I didn't find a problem with anything he said.
"Do you cower in the face of terror or do you lead in the face of terror?" Great question, Mr President, and you've done your best to answer it, albeit with mixed fortunes.

Has making the world a better place been too much to ask for the Bush administration? Perhaps but not enough for it to try with honest purpose and clear direction.

Doesn't make him a good President.
I'm reading Angler: The Cheney Vice Presidency. Cheney played all the angles to get what he wanted, including using Bush's lack of introspection and leadership to pervert the role of the President. When Bush took the reigns, it was too late, the damage had been done. It was really the Cheney/Rumsfeld presidency for 4-5 years. I agree that history will be kinder to him, but in the same way you're kind to someone with a developmental disability.

Bush's claim to fame will be that he kept Islamic terrorists from hitting America again. It was a sloppy strategy, but we were not hit. Now, there's another terrorist knocking at our door and it's the Mexican drug cartel. They are scarier than the Islamic terrorists when you read what they're doing.

I don't think Bush was a bad President, he was a misguided president and he's probably happy to leave the job. He was a President who had tunnel vision meaning he had never traveled outside the U.S. and had never met with foreign diplomats the way his father did. His wife has risen above the fray....very pretty lady....and yes, Bush was a decent man....but again, repeat, a misguided man.

I believe your idea of what is decent, kind, straightforward, honest and courageous can be summed up in three words - narrow minded stupidity. Let's hope you get your wish and you have a beer with Bush where you both can compare your lists of rights and wrongs, smiling for every right and growling with every wrong.

tommysunshine, if Bush has such courage and integrity, why has he been going around on television the last couple of months essentially blaming others for things going wrong.

I'd have a little more respect for the guy if he took a little responsibility for his policies instead of saying, "It's not my fault. I was only the president."
