As a dad, I think I understand a bit of what John Travolta is feeling about the sudden death of his 16 year-old son Jett. It goes a bit beyond that, actually, with my oldest son having the same name. Travolta's Jett was born in '92, four years after mine. Jett wrote me yesterday saying "there's now one less Jett in the world...feels weird to see my name in an obit." My sympathies all around. This is awful.

Horrible news, and all of the media speculation about the role that Scientology may have played in any medical decisions is truly tasteless...

I agree--- what a heartbreaking tragedy for Mr. Travolta and his family. I hope they will be allowed to respectfully move on with their loss.

and JHR, you're telling me. I'm already hearing these ridiculous scientology rumors. How rude, disrespectful and pathetic!!!! I've had it with celebrity gossip and tabloids. This is why I stopped reading those kind of crap.

Having suffered the lose of a child, and having one 16 year old boy of my three, I can imagine the pain they are feeling. We should never have to bury a child, and no, it never goes away. The term 'closer' means nothing to me.
You adapt, change and try to learn to live again. Times like this bring it back. My prays go out to them.

All due respect, Jeffrey, but unless you've lost a child there is no way to fathom what it does to you and how it changes you. One day you look in the mirror and realize that not all of you is there, something in the reflection is missing. My son died 5 years ago , also suddenly and unexpectedly, and though the loss is with me every day (no such thing as closure) I live a pretty terrific life in as 'normal' and positive way as possible. Normal for me is now just different.

It hurts to the bone when I hear about the loss of other peoples' children, and when I read about Heath's death and all the terrible things said, and now Jett Travolta's, it makes me sad and angry. May his family have some peace from the press.

DeafBrown,

I feel for the guy as well but there is a legit reason people are associating Scientology with the story. They have their own way of dealing with illness and it leads to many of its members not receiving the proper medical care. Many have died as a result of this.

I'm not saying his son did or didn't but I think it deserves to be looked into. I hope this opens Travolta's eyes as to what Scientology really is... a scam.

Occording to his OT Level, he should've had the power to save him.

Wish I was making that up.

A terrible loss that the family should be left alone to deal with. Hope that happens, probably won't though.

One of the most difficult concepts in this world...for a parent to deal with outliving their offspring.

Ease up on the arguments (for now)...just send in the prayers to Travolta and Preston.

Who says "that kid" (Jett is his name) did not receive proper medical help? The bullshit gossip hounds? Since there are two medical experts STILL doing an autopsy, how about you wait on the suspicions and accusations, and, like GMShuffle says, just send out prayers to Travolta and Preston.

How is the OT Level known when no OFFICIAL REPORT has been issued? Were you there? Carp about the evils of Scientology LATER. I'm sure there will be a million posts about it anyway.

The man just lost his child.

Jesus.

Hey Rod,

"OT Level" is a Scientology term not a medical one. It refers to what level of the "parth to total freedom" Mr. Travolta is at.

That level also includes the ability to communicate with plants.

Seriously.

Thanks for the clarification. Not as versed on Scientology as thee. OT Level sounds whack.

I still say this is not the time for that shit. No doubt this loss will have Travolta dealing with many issues. Just seems crass to have this be your main level of concern.

Being concerned about a person and his family being brain-washed into thinking the intergalactic warlord Xenu is at fault for all of their problems due to them having tiny aliens on their body that need to be washed away is not crass.

Jett Travolta died because he wasn't given proper medical care.

Thanks Dr. Renfield. I guess since you've known the Travoltas for years and have had access to what they know and feel, you must be the expert. Your problems with Scientology are valid. Your insensitivity on the LOSS OF A CHILD is ridiculous. You must not have any kids. If you did, you would never say this bullshit.

I'll wait until I hear it from a REAL doctor, as Jett Travolta lived 16 years just fine, by all accounts that WE KNOW OF.

And, god forbid, when you DO lose a child ... let's hope that no one is as CRASS as you in giving their unwanted or unwarranted opinions on how you live you life.
