Am I the only one thinking this is getting creepy? And Maybe Obama should get some better protection, like a SWAT vest? These women are thinking he's some kind of god or something. This is scary stuff and he's just a bit too open for me. He must be giving the Secret Service sleepness nights.

Pretty rad moment with Henrietta if you ask me...but yeah, I'm sure the Secret Service is like, "Here we go again!"

I'm not sure what is scarier - the God-like worship, or the fact people think it's the government's role to give them a house.

Of course, I'm still wondering how Julio, the 19-year-old McDonalds employee, has been working there for "four and a half years."

Massey: Agree totally. I have no idea of this lady's situation, but I'm not sure if it is the gov't's place togive her a home, if sh can't afford to keep one up on her own. If she honestly needs help, that's fine. I just think that the ida that everyone "deserves" a homeof their own is kinda crazy. yes, we all need shelter of some kind, but it doesn't mean each person needs their own place.

When I was in college, years ago, I got in a jam, of my own making, and spent most of a spring (about three months) living in my little Toyota wagon. Hard times and too ashamed to go to anyone for help, but I got through it on my own and think of it as backbone buildinig now, at least in my own case. I have no idea what it is like for a 50, 60 yr old woman to do it. But there it is.

I tend to think that we aren't going to pull through this in BHO's 1st term. People vote on the economy, so that means there HAS TO be an upturn before the next election comes around. A lot of that "god" stuff i going to go by the wayside if things get worse, which they will. To be fair, i think you can tell BHO doesn't care for the kind of crazed adulation peope like thi show. In some of these appearances he appears to be pulling back from that, which is the right and the presidential thing to do. Wish him luck through all of this. To all of us, too.

While I agree that it is not government's responsibility to buy everyone or anyone a house, pardon me but it is beside the point. The point imho is that she needs help and the President of the US comforted her. Rich people ask and get help from government all the time, it is called access. Pres. Obama gets it, even the small stuff. This is confirmation for me that he gets the big stuff and reaffirms hope. This exchange washes like a hurricane over a levee the image from AFO of Bush looking out the window from my mind.

Well, I certainly pray Obama is bringing more to the table than "comfort" and "hope." Because those and a dollar will buy you a Coke.

People need to stop making Obama the messiah. He's a human being, not Jesus Christ Superstar.

buckzolla: Yeah, he went over to her, more than Dubya would've done, but you can tell already, that is body lanhuage iIS presidential. He went over, but was there just a few seconds, nothing overdone. True, more than the previous prez would've done, but less than some of these people might think. Like I said, he has changed because he knows it's one thing to glad hand while getting the vote, but there is business to be done and he is all about that. I'm not critiquing the guy at all. I respect the distance he know shows. People can belive in the prez, but he is there to get stuff done on a national level, not to comfort the faithful.

man it pisses me off to hear people say that he needs to bring more than "comfort" and "hope."

No shit, but so many people use that as a negative, that he's actually caring and would take the time to comfort ONE person. has to start somewhere you jaded, cynical pricks.

Go Ryansi51 Go!

President Obama clearly loves America as well as Americans. He is just plain great!

The lady in the white blazer, however, is a little creepy.

Creepy was the hand picked audience at Bush's events who would ask "What can we do for YOU?"

Creepy are middle aged women like the white blazer woman who show that kind of adulation to TV evangelists or over the hill rock stars (had an aunt who was an Elvis groupie well into her 50's).

And creepy is the outright idolatry that supposedly intelligent members of the Right continue to show to Reagan.

Looked at in a different light, "I Love You, Barack" Lady is a sad reminder of just how unconnected to their own government and supposed representatives some people are that they go a little overboard when they feel someone now is actually there for them.

"Creepy" is adults who think the government should give them a house. The government is US, people. Just how much more work do you want to do in order to pay in taxes to support someone who thinks you OWE IT to them? I'm all for helping those who need the help; I'm all against supporting those who can support themselves but prefer to live off of our efforts via taxation.

I'm sure this thought will be vilified, having read the posts here.

Deathtongue: I stand corrected on the white blazer lady. I shouldn't have called her creepy. That was a bit mean of me. You're absolutely right. She just doesn't know what to do with herself now that we have a President who listens. Thanks for pointing that out to me. I mean, who knows how bad her sitch is?

62Lincoln - Really? What do you call the BILLIONS of taxpayer dollars that have already been documented as having disappeared from Iraq appropriations into all sorts of bank accounts of Bushco cronies? Or the news today that Merrill Lynch and Bank of America executives conspired to hide billions in BONUSES at the same time they were asking for a Federal bailout?

All this woman wanted was help getting back on her feet and clearly has run out of options. You begrudge her this???

Get some fucking perspective, dude.
