Have you recovered from your hissy fit? My God, how hard would it have been for you to walk across the street and post your blog entries from the Starbucks-look-alike coffee shop, which has lickety-split wireless? I moved to Oxford from Los Angeles -- and rather than fuming about the lack of techno saviness as compared to Los Angeles, I reveled in the differences. Please be nice to your hosts, attend the panels you committed to attend. There's lots to enjoy in Oxford if you ease up and lose some of that sense of entitlement.

If I recall correctly, Elvis Costello recorded his album THE DELIVERY MAN in Oxford. Some of the songs are bathed in Southern Gothic atmosphere--might make for good background music while driving through the reason.
