The Girl on the Train
This Syracuse junior I know sounded pretty good co-hosting a music, talk and weather-reporting radio show yesterday. I'm a little prejudiced, yeah, but he's pretty good anyway. Loose, spirited, fun attitude. Here's an excerpt.

Nice job, Jett. Very cool, relaxed, welcoming radio voice. My only critique would be to cut down down on the "uh..."s Kill that Caroline Kennedy cadence!

It's college radio, um's and ah's are the name of the game. Good stuff otherwise, well done.

Agreed, Monument: "Ums," "ahs" and "uhs" are acceptable on college radio and frankly part of its soporific appeal, assuming the voice is agreeable and genuine. Jett's is. When the "like" and "ya'know" tics kick in, that's when there's a real problem. That was Caroline's downfall, and indeed it seems endemic to any American born after, say, 1958. It's some weird, backwater vestige of Beat-speak, I guess. I struggle with it daily.
