One certainly does have to admire Mr. Murphy's ability to spread sunshine wherever he goes.

I had forgotten about that post (seems having a life will do that) and was rather amused to find it had reached over 260 replies.

But what is truly amusing is watching as Murphy slugs it out with a made-of-ether tarbaby. Nice job.

Damn, shame I missed all that.

I didn't realise Don had produced TWO Moore adaptations. That explains a lot.

I did enjoy From Hell for what it is, but having never read the book I can't judge whether they botched it.

Jesus -- 260?! I left that thread at 100 or so, then, when I peeked back at it, it was 160, and I figured I had missed enough not to bother. I can't believe it got that high. I can only assume Murphy kept posting, or it would've petered out before 200. I can almost respect him for sticking it out.

Did you read that entire thread? There is absolutely nothing to respect by the (very bitter) end. At all.

And actionman -- for the love of all things holy, don't try to invoke him back here. Call me a traditionalist, but if we're going to have threads hijacked, I'd almost prefer wacky insanity of D.Z. over the blustering ego of D.M.

And good God, that' saying something.

No, as curious as I am, I'm not going to jump in to reading 160 more posts. (Maybe if I was at work.) Especially since my assumption is that everything Murphy says will boil down to "You are on the Internet, so I don't care what you think," which is a fine message, but seems to ring hollow when you stay on-line for two days continuing the argument.

Jesus, bring back some of those right-wing losers calling Sarah Palin a "slam dunk". Anything!

Quick summary for you Gordon...

It boiled down to, "since you're typing this on the Internet and not using your real name (he seemed to have a real obsession with the anonymity), your opinion is empty because your life is empty and not only don't I care what you think, I don't even think you actually exist." Or something. Cuckoo for Cocoa Puffs.

He certainly brought the ugly early, but at a certain point (tough to say if it's after post 175, 200, etc...), it became obvious you were just sort of witnessing a jaw-dropping meltdown.

If his life was a Howard Hughes (and God knows he ain't anywhere near it) biopic, that thread seems like it would be his "oh shit he's bottling his urine now"-moment.

Then again, maybe he's just like that everyday...

"he seemed to have a real obsession with the anonymity"

What's hilarious is that he plays that card, but then, if you tell him your real name, he says stuff like, "a-ha, now I'll make sure you never work in this town (again)!" I'm sure that sort of reprisal ensures that he hears nothing but honest feedback from his employees and others around him.

it was a fun thread for a little while, kept me interested while home sick from work.....but I tuned out after about comment #180, how many times can you read the same arguments with just a few words/phrases changed with no possibility of resolution?

I skimmed.

Don Murphy doesn't have nearly the class with which the good lord graced Andrew Dice Clay -- and is neck-and-neck in talent (or, more to the point, the lack thereof).

What a repugnant fellow.

Maybe if Don Murphy devoted his time to producing instead of picking fights on comment boards, he could make a movie that isn't a piece of garbage.
