There are still so many good movies that aren't even available on plain old DVD, and we're groveling to get this overplayed, overrated wonder a Blu-Ray release? Why? So we can get a better look at Jason Schwartzman's nose hairs?
My guess is that Criterion will put out some kind of Wes Anderson collection on Blu-ray soon.. Maybe they're trying to get the rights for Darjeeling Limited and that's holding it back.
Not to beat a dead horse, but the Criterion edition of Bottle Rocket makes it crystal clear what a series of diminishing returns Wes Anderson's career has become. A wonderful movie, that.
WA's pointilism and desire to stick pins in his movies and mount them on styrofoam has obscured whatever artistic message he once wanted to convey.
But yeah, I'd buy a Rushmore Blu-Ray. Bill Murray owns. And the soundtrack -- come on, you can't deny the tunes.
there are many layers of emotional darkness in the film upon close examination. it's definitely dry with its humor, but I happen to think it's kind of dark.

Astrophore,
He is nothing, sadly, without his John Lennon aka Owen Wilson.
I watched this at a midnight showing a couple of years ago. It was the first time I had seen it since its original run. I went in expecting to be disappointed. Not at all. It was better. Truly outstanding.
As to WA, none of his films are that bad. Zissou is pretty funny, if nothing else. I think Darjeeling has a chance at aging well. Give him some time to work things out.
I strongly suggest you guys a H - O T site for tall chix and guys-- ____Tall kiss C om ____ Im sure it will work for-- you. End your loney life!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The standard def Rushmore is now out of print, Jeff, so it appears that Criterion no longer has the rights to it.

No it's not out of print.. IIRC Buena Vista manufactured and distributed all of the Wes Anderson Criterion DVDs (except for Bottle Rocket).

It really isn't all that dark. Maybe some dry stuff in there.
