Trauma

There are no particulars about the "tragic" skiing accident suffered by 45 year-old actress Natasha Richardson, and which has reportedly resulted in a "traumatic brain injury."

Richardson is currently at the Hopital du Sacre-Coeur de Montreal. She was initially being taken to Hospitalier Laurentien, which is close to Quebec's Mont Tremblant ski resort where the accident occured. Here's hoping for her survival and recovery. Support and condolences offered to husband Liam Neeson and their kids.

I remember when this happened to Sonny Bono in 1998 because my reaction was "Again?!" Just one week earlier, Michael Kennedy had died exactly the same way.

Neeson and Richardson are a lovely couple and they clearly adore one another. Her condition sounds grim, but I'm hoping for the best.

I hope she can make it through this.

However, anyone I have ever known who has been admitted to that hospital has either died or gotten out way worse than when they went in -- regardless of their initial condition. That's no exaggeration. It's the middle ages up there, and unfortunately, I speak from experience. She should be taken anywhere else.

Heard the news yesterday, hope she's gonna be OK. Poor Neeson, he must be devastated.

I hope it's not as bad as it seems. Prayers and good will to the Neeson/Richardson family.

Incidentally, it makes a lot of sense to wear a helmet while skiing. I've seen a lot of locals doing it when I've been in Colorado. I wonder if it will become more widespread as events like this happen.

Latest report says she fell during a lesson on a beginner slope, so there was no high-impact crash into a tree. That's good news, if true.

What's the difference? She's still in critical condition with brain injuries! She could have been accidentally shot by Ckaudine Longet and the results would still be the same.

Poor woman, Oh! I just thought - if she dies (God forbid) it will make one of my favorite guilty pleasures 'Love Actually" - impossible to watch.

As she is British the likelihood is not good that she voted for the American President.

Horrible news. I hope she recovers.

Why the title change from "Smash" to "Trauma"? Did the site's good taste chip kick in?
