Bad Business

The death of Marilyn Chambers at age 56 is obviously suspect. Barring an accident or unlucky genes, healthy people don't die in their mid '50s unless they've hastened it along in some way. I'm just guessing, but I'll bet anyone that Chambers' lifestyle was in some way a factor. I'm referring, of course, to the people she hung with and the influences she encountered as a result of her porn-star career. The Mitchell Brothers, Linda Lovelace, John Holmes...who else?

I think we should all have our own personal moment of silence. [Deleted due to excessive cruelty and lack of respect for the departed.]

Maybe she did lots of hard drugs in the past and her heart just stopped...? I don't know.

Since you've only watched the one porn film, you might not be aware of this. But she did do some pretty hard livin'.

Oh, and she also made Rabid with David Cronenberg. That might have contributed as well.

That's a cruel thing to say, Milk Man. She was a sad-eyed lady of the lowlands. Wayward perhaps, but one of God's children.

She lived in a trailer home in Canyon Country. Not that you can't live a healthy, clean life in a trailer home in Canyon Country, but...

Sad.

I had one of those Ivory Snow boxes for a long time -- bought it right before P&G pulled them out of stores. She was barely 18 when she made Behind the Green Door. Amazing, really.

This is definitely a sad occurrence. I'm not ashamed to admit I was a fan of hers and some of her adult films from the 80s - she was definitely an important part (along with people like John Holmes and Linda Lovelace) of the adult film world depicted so vividly by Paul Thomas Anderson in Boogie Nights. She also represented a time when adult films were not simply sex videos with no interest at all in plotting, writing, or acting.

I know she was one of God's children. One of his favorites. God loves all whores. He created them in his image.

I just remembered. The first "real porn" I ever saw was the out of gas scene in INSAtIABLE. it was the first porn I'd ever seen and when that guy shot all over Marilyn's face, I freaked. I knew I was seeing something crazy for the first time. It's actually pretty tame by today's standards, but you can imagine being 11 or 12 and seeing this.
