Old, cramped, creaky, extra-dark, hard-to-find, understaffed...sound like the ultimate Indie theatre? It is. God I love that place! I'm only 40 but I've been going to "underground" movies there since the 70s. Nice pic, Jeff.

I have no idea what CV pays in rent or what their economics are but I seriously hope they can survive this downturn. It's a true Village treasure that deserves to preserved.

CV (right off the Union Square subway, so not hard to find) got an interior facelift not too long ago. Like the Quad on 13th Street, it's tolerable, and essential.
