Jett and I missed last night's 7 pm showing of the first two episodes of Showtime's Nurse Jackie, which will debut next Monday. But we attended the party -- a Peggy Siegal event at the Parker Meridien -- and ran into Jackie star Edie Falco, director Paul Schrader, former Fox News entertainment reporter and standup comic Bill McCuddy, Richard Jenkins and an assortment of journo pals. Here's the entire first episode, and Ken Tucker's review in the current EW. Here's Movieline's Stu Van Airsdale with his quotes and two cents.

She was great on 30 ROCK, and pretty fuckin hilarious on THE SOPRANOS when she wanted to be, I have high hopes. Showtime is on fire right now, haven't had a bad show since MEADOWLANDS, which wasn't even really theirs. I do wish BROTHERHOOD had caught on more, it was great while it lasted.

I've seen ads for this in subway stations and they've made Falco look awful. Like a man. From that photo of the event she looks a lot better in person.

*SPOILERS FROM THE TUCKER REVIEW*
Father Phil is the guy Nurse Jackie's stepping out on? That reeks of lame stunt casting.

Yeah, the cable channels really go mental with their advertising in the summer. Every last ad I see on the subway is for Nurse Jackie, Weeds, Burn Notice, etc.
