An Education's Carey Mulligan playing verbal table tennis with the charmingly rat-a-tat-tat David Poland. That's my girl you're messing with, pal! Kidding.
Just out of curiosity, Jeff, have you happened to come across the Doctor Who episode "Blink"? I know the sci-fi/fantasy genre of that sort isn't typically your thing, but it's a wonderful (and absolutely creepy) stand-alone episode starring Carey from a couple seasons ago. If you give only episode of Doctor Who a look, that's not a bad one to try.
DarthC, I mentioned a link to Blink several Mulligan posts back, but Jeff didn't bite. I understand the reluctance given the genre and the somewhat cheesy rep for the old Doctor Who, but Mulligan's performance is an early star-turn; she managed to make the show her own. A cracking script by Stephen Moffat sure helps, as Hornby's apparently does for An Education. Looking forward to it...
This columnist doesn't think any actor or actress is his friend. What I am to them is a fair-weather journalist acquaintance -- a writer who likes them enormously for work they've recently done. When and if they do some bad or boring or indifferent work in the future, my fair-weather feelings will of course evaporate. But when favoring breezes and bright sunshine are abundant, I'm a very supportive guy.
The light filtering through the curtains is unfortunate. It makes it look like she has frosting smeared on her face.
And as I've chimed in numerous times before, Blink is aces. If she hasn't exploded in popularity by then, I expect Moffatt to employ Ms. Mulligan again when he takes over as showrunner of Dr. Who next year.
Blink is magnificent, prob the best piece of British genre TV since the 60s. And Carey Mulligan gives an amazing performance as Sally Sparrow. If you haven't seen it you are missing out on something special.
Everytime I watch one of those "DP" videos I get a new appreciation for the grace with which people will suffer fools gladly in order to promote their product.

What a boring interview and it's sad, to me, when bloggers think that stars are their friends.

Don't worry. It isn't just you. It's a virus that afflicts many a film blogger. And probably always will.
