Loop Premiere
An interesting group attended last night's In The Loop premiere at the IFC Center. Hangover star Zach Galifianakis was there (and giving me what felt like a bit of a dirty look as the theatre emptied out). Three or four Sopranos guys (Paulie Walnuts, Artie Bucco, Big Pussy, Furio) came at the invitation of Loop costar James Gandolfini. Famke Janseen (Nip/Tuck, Taken, "Jean Grey" in X-Men) was there; ditto Tom Arnold. Several great-looking women with legs to die for were waltzing around the after-party. Plus the usual assortment of journalists (myself and Jett among them).

If I'm not mistaken, this opens on VOD before it hits theaters. There's a lot of stuff like this coming out now - I just saw 'The Answer Man,' which hasn't opened yet - and I think it's worth exploring what gets the VOD release, when and why. IFC is really big on VOD, they release just about everything that way, which is great for us here in the boonies, but I wonder how much of a difference it really makes on the b.o. gross.

Maybe Zach Galifianakis was pissed that he could never hope to be as funny as anyone in In The Loop, and that while his breakout role will be forgotten about many years from now, Loop will be treasured as a classic comedy from this decade.

I'm surprised In the Loop isn't out here yet. It was one of the movie choices on my flight back from London a couple weeks ago. The digital file was corrupted, so I couldn't watch it, though.
