"In resigning from office with 17 months to go in her first term, Sarah Palin has made herself the bull goose loony of the GOP. Her statement was incoherent, bizarre and juvenile. [It] had all the depth and gravitas of a 13-year-old's review of the Jonas Brothers' album on Facebook. She even quoted her parents' refrigerator magnet. She put her son's name in quotations marks. Why? Who knows. She writes, 'I promised efficiencies and effectiveness!?' Was she exclaiming or questioning? I get it: both!" -- Paul Begala in a 7.3 HuffPosting called "Sarah Palin Turns Pro."

Darn it, I was hoping she would run for President in 2012. That would have been HILARIOUS. Think of the debates!
Palin: Abe Lincoln was a friend of mine, and you sir are no Abe Lincoln! Where's the beef? Say it ain't so Barack, there you go again, you betcha! Oh I'm sorry, what was the question again?

She thinks she's running, and she was going to decline another term sooner or later in order to do so. This mostly hastened it.
Her existance puts the GOP in a classic political bind: She can't win. It's TRUE that the press will largely be against her, but a good candidate can overcome that or even disarm it (see: McCain being neck-neck with Obama BEFORE this chick and the economic collapse) but she's NOT a good candidate. She's a walking disaster...
...BUT, she's a walking disaster that their base LOVES. She's still their biggest fundraiser draw. And while the brains of the GOP have nothing but ever-increasing contempt for the "jesus freaks" they know they NEED them to tip the scales in key regions; which means they can't boot Palin or even be unkind to her so long as she wants to keep inserting herself into the race. So they have to let her run, hope she flames out on her own and that "the base" was happy enough to see her "get a chance" that they'll stick with the real candidate afterwards.

Contrarily her non-existance puts liberals in a bind. If she disappears from the public eye, who will they talk about, tell jokes about, write ENDLESS blogs about, hate, make fun of, fear, despise and treat like the 23rd coming of the apocalypse?
Ironically, Liberals have kept her alive. She is (was) the governor of faraway Alaska and was, many months ago, the VICE Presidential candidate on a losing ticket. She'd have a similar public profile right about now to Kay Bailey Hutchinson or Tim Pawlenty if she hadn't been kept on permanent life-support by a liberal blogosphere that wants to showcase her (and Limbaugh) as the "face of the Republican party". The irony lies in the fact that it's caused many on the right who otherwise wouldn't pay her much heed to rally to her defense.
Anyway, she's gone. Time to find a new boogieman.

Right, that's why she goes to dinners in DC, from which she's been disinvited and has no speaking role, just to walk across the stage and wave.

Crabtree is right. There was nothing interesting about her other than the fact that she was the losing VP Candidate in 2008. Conservatives had pretty much forgotten about her. By this time the media should've forgotten about her because she's been living a pretty low-key hermetic existence since, then-- think Lloyd Bentsen after 1988. She put her nose to the grindstone, but they couldn't leave her alone. So she had to quit. They had to go looking for her like people used to go looking for Garbo. It's pathetic.

Bob: "...BUT, she's a walking disaster that their base LOVES. She's still their biggest fundraiser draw."
That says more about why they need to wean themselves off that base and marginalize it than anything else.
"And while the brains of the GOP have nothing but ever-increasing contempt for the "jesus freaks" they know they NEED them to tip the scales in key regions;"
That used to be the case, but now those fundies are turning into a liability. It's becoming a mutually-parasitic relationship which benefits no one.
Travis: "If she disappears from the public eye, who will they talk about, tell jokes about, write ENDLESS blogs about, hate, make fun of, fear, despise and treat like the 23rd coming of the apocalypse?"
That's amusing coming from the party perpetually willing to blame Carter and Clinton years after being out of office.

I'm always a fan of your sarcasmasticness, George, but I don't think it's really warranted. The press, (mostly the section of the press that can't stand her), reports on her every move. She has been kept alive for the past several months by, primarily, the left. ("hey look everyone! Here's the biggest star of the Republican party. Ain't she crazy/awful/ a bitch / stupid?")
Romney, Huckabee, Pawlenty, etc, go around the country all the time making speeches to groups of Republicans and on behalf of local politicians... how often are the covered by Kos, MSNBC and HuffPo? It's not like she's on Oprah or Larry King every other day.
Seriously, if she truly DOES quit politics all together and sticks to her family in Alaska (which is what I hope she does, we'll see) what IS the Left going to do?

And how long have we had to endure your comments about Obama's middle name and father's birthplace?

Not a strawman, a Dickhead, a walking, talking, typing Dickhead, gibbering about shit you don't know to people who don't care.
You want to know what the Left is gonna do now that they don't have the top-half of the Palin-Jindal ticket to kick around anymore. Here's your answer: Find the next worthless piece of shit politician the wingnuts promote and piss on them. Clear on that? Good. Now go Fuck Yourself.

You are SUCH an angry little child, aren't you? You really need to chill. Life isn't so bad. Living in your mother's basement can't be ALL bad.
By the way. Where do you live? Could I meet you somewhere? I'd simply LOVE an opportunity to kick the living shit out of your scrawny, effeminate, oft-visited ass. You've gone personal. Now I would like to beat upon you.
Pussy.
