But this is from the director of The Dark Knight which was a stupid comic book movie, even more stupid than Ghost Rider or Fantastic Four, so this can't possibly pique your interest, right Wells?
All publications will begin printing their Best of the Decade Lists in a few months. Too bad Nolan couldn't bump this up to this year to compete against Lovely Bones as a last round battle for Director of the Decade. (Also too bad Woodstock is reportedly not enough to get Lee back in the discussion.)
This movie looks awesome but it would be better if they used some METAL for the trailer like CLICK CLICK BOOM or Kid Rock's AMERICAN BADASS.
I have an ongoing theory that every trailer should use METAL because it makes viewers all pumped up and excited to see something, it's active instead of passive music, unless they're a complete pussy.
That side, I did kinda like the one-note CRUNCH of the score they use here.
Any "best of decade" lists must include 2010 since the decade technically goes from 2001-2010, which is why Kubrick called the movie 2001... as it was the first year of the new millennium.
So the Year 2000 was in the 90's? that's counterintuitive. Even if you're technically correct, publications will ignore it and move ahead with their best of the 00's.
RMBurnett: I was/am one of the biggest "the millennium starte in 2001" snobs, but the idea of a decade is different. '70s, '80s, '90s, whatever you call this one, etc.
And yeah, 2010 is looking like the year of The DiCaprio Mindfuck. (Good name for a band).
Panasonic, though, is preparing to launch a stereoscopic 3-D plasma home theater system, which would more accurately re-create the theater experience.
While the company has not announced a launch date beyond 2010 for the system, which is dubbed "Full HD 3-D," the marketing relationship with Fox suggests the technology will available before the home release of "Avatar."
Yeah, yeah, how did I know some Children of Bodom-shirted metal purist would go nitpicking that; Slayer is pretty much in my top five bands of all time (along with Pantera and LIMP BIZKIT YEP), but you can spare me the name-dropping of every Z-tier IcedCorpseEntombedPocalypse band with growling nonvocals, ripped-off from KFK satan-warfare-doom lyrics and leaden speed riffs that NO ONE could remember twice...
Because for trailers what works best is some rapcore/nu metal chunky E-chord shit with some awesomely toolish white dude faux-rapping about HERE COMES THE BOOM or something STUPID AS FUCK, because it's AWESOME and has a dumb-ass groove and just makes one BASK in the power and want to smash shit and bang some chick.
Awesome as, say, "Captor of Sin" is, it doesn't exactly lend itself to IMAGES OF AWESOMENESS.
I'm fairly certain this is the same music from the Transformers 2 trailer or teaser...or...one of those two. It's not from the score...Can't be. Not this early in production.
My favourite shot is the one from the Matrix, in the hallway, but with added wobbly bits. Lets hope this is a lot better than the yawnfest of The Dark Knight.
Too bad Shutter Island was pushed back, or you'd really have to include Marty in that Director of the Decade discussion. Say what you want about their imperfections, but Gangs, Aviator, and The Departed were all done with a master's eye, were all very different films, and pulled a slew of great performances from each. He's certainly as worthy as the other names mentioned.
Peter Jackson? No. The man essentially made one long epic, and another bloated film that I'd hardly call a home run.
LexG one of your favorite bands is really Limp Bizkit?!? that's something i would say to you as a dig but not really believing it was true, but i gotta give you credit, at least youre true to yourself.
i bet limp bizkit isnt even in fred durst's top 10.
Lazarus, I wouldn't say that The Aviator or Departed are landmark films, which is required to make any Best Of list. He didn't exactly reinvent the wheel. It's why most mags named James Cameron as Director of the 90's almost solely for T2 and Titanic.
Also, I think the director's masterpiece must be included in the decade, or at least a movie close to their best work, which of course is not even close to the case with Marty. (This qualification excludes Clint as well.)

Really? James Cameron was named Director of the 90s over Spielberg? Spielberg had Schindler's List (93), Saving Private Ryan (98), Jurassic Park (93) plus Amistad (97).

rustyreub- that's how i remember it, even though at the time, i also thought Speilburg maybe deserved it. Maybe the T-1000 was more important than that 1st brontosaurus, and Titanic touched more people than Schindler, or maybe it's just more fun to write about Cameron, and juxtopose his decade against Coppola's 70's and criticize the current state of movies.
If it's the latter, which of course it is as writers want an angle, then the actor of the decade is between Penn and Ledger. Wny write about Viggo/Crowe/etc, when the angles with Penn or Ledger are so built-in? i actually think it should be Ledger. Only a dozen movies are remembered every decade and he carried two of them and then left forever w/ people jonzing for more.
It'd definitely be interesting for Jeff to do a "People of the Decade" style debate towards the end of the year. You could look at it from different angles - for example the people who came out of nowhere like Nolan, or people whose once-stellar reputation has been tarnished (Cruise? Lucas?) by the 2000s.
Either way, lists and best ofs will provide some great blogs later this year.

From http://www.variety.com/article/VR1118007678.html?categoryid=13&cs=1 : Today, DVD or Blu-ray titles have to be downgraded to lesser anaglyph 3-D technology to bring 3-D into the home. "Coraline" and "Jonas Bros: The 3-D Concert Experience" are among 2009 titles that have featured such technology, which produces what some observers deem murky images with poor color.
