One of the below images is the word APPARITION converted to Russian cyrillic letters; the other is the new logo of Bob Berney and Bill Pohlad's Apparition, a just-announced distribution company that will bring out The Young Victoria and Terrence Malick's The Tree of Life. Which is the Russian version and which is the logo? And what's the reason for the Russian/KGB/Alexander Nevsky 'tude in the first place?

The bottom one is the logo. It's not cyrillic. It's reflected aross a line below the word APPARITION.
Or are is your question rhetorical? If so, apologies for the literal-mindedness.

I'm confused. One is obviously cyrillic, the other is a word written upside down. ??
It is a lousy logo, if that's what you're trying to say.

Cyrillic is one of the most difficult languages in the whole world to learn, so I give much kudos to Americans who can speak and read/write Russian.
anyway, I don't think that logo looks too bad.
that fake-looking Sanskrit typeface that you get on Microsoft Office Word?....I've always hated it.

...AND Jane Campion's "Bright Star" -- but yes, horrible logo.

For a logo is actually quite dull, yet another Trajan-esque logo, like we don't have enough of those (way to go guys, try an upsidedown Helvetica for the next one!)

Cyrillic is an alphabet, not a language. And it isn't that hard to learn. The Cyrillic alphabet is only a few more characters than English. Reading & writing it is much easier than properly speaking Russian IMHO.
