Toyland

This G.I. Joe spoof trailer gets down to the adolescent heart of the matter. The only bothersome thing is that it was posted three days ago.

WOW this looks like a great movie after all. Why didn't they show this trailer instead?

That was great.

Toys are ace. I remember Steven Spielberg said something like how boys are all natural born filmmakers, because from a very young age they're framing badass cinematic shots in their eyes using their toys. It's quite correct.

Another thing - those G.I. Joe toys have weirdly accurate faces. Times have changed since the Star Wars toys that made Luke Skywalker look like a gay bodybuilder.

In related news, the actual film G.I. Joe is sitting pretty at 91% over at RT. I know this is destined to come down to earth, and it's not being screened for critics, but I am choosing this to be the one big, dumb action movie of the summer that I'm going to catch (I don't really count Star Trek, although I'm sure many of you would).

I thought it looked like fun from the very first trailer.

I've softened my stance towards it. Initially I thought it looked like absolute dogshit but the more recent trailers and whatnot look okay. I just can't really be arsed to pay for it. I might catch a pre-12:00 $6 special at the AMC.

Brilliant!!
By which I mean, "obvious and not that funny."
But points for effort.

I thought it looked horrible from the first trailer - I mean, the fundamental thing is that they're all UNIQUE, wearing their stupid outfits, not wrapping themselves in interchangeable accelerator suits.

Can we all agree that the "What do they accelerate?" exchange is the worst trailer moment since Jar Jar's "Yousa people gonna die?"

I expect it to suck. If it somehow doesn't...maybe I'll give it a shot down the road.

What's bothersome is the incorrect aspect ratio.

Any points for effort are negated.

So what if they are "dolls for boys"? They're clearly used in different ways. You seem to imply that it's a feminine trait to play with toy figures, yet I don't see many boys having tea parties with their G.I. Joes and changing their diapers.
