A Few Years...Maybe

BBC News has announced that Nowhere Boy director Sam Taylor-Wood, 42, is engaged to Aaron Johnson, 19, who does a decent job of playing the lead role of John Lennon in the film. I wouldn't make it legal if I were Johnson -- I'd just cruise along and see where it all goes. No guy should get married at this age. I just asked a ladyfriend about this; she says "younger boys like older women because older women know what they want in the sack, and a lot of younger girls don't."

"Extremely sad for both parties involved."

Why?

It's quite common for an older man to date a younger woman, but when it happens the other way around everyone gets into a moral panic. What's sad about it? They both seem happy. Sure enough, it'll probably only last a few years until he's presented with a steady stream of willing Hollywood starlets, but still... let them enjoy it while it lasts.

Eloi Manning, if it was a 19 year old girl engaged to a 42 year old male director, I think that would also give people pause. You don't know who you are at 19. Frankly, no 19 year old should be engaged to ANYONE, let alone someone who could be their parent.

I agree that it's not ideal, but it doesn't seem to stir the same passions in people as when an older woman is with a younger man. If Nicolas Cage or Bruce Willis is seen with some 20-year old model, nobody really bats an eyelid. But the reverse is still viewed in a negative light.

Marriage is a really bad idea. But maybe it's just a flurry of romance destined to end a year later.

That seems inconceivable that they would think this is a good idea. Publicity stunt for the film is most likely.

As much as I disagree with your overall point anyway, I can't see how you can conflate "famous person fucking a 20-year-old model" with "person getting engaged to be married to a 20-year-old anything". The point is not the sex part, it's the part where they're getting married that most people seem to be speaking up about.

Emma Hemming is 32. Yes it's a similar age gap. But by 32, you're grown up enough to know what you're doing.

Oh for fuck's sake - I wasn't insinuating that there was anything wrong with them having sex. I was simply pointing out the nonsensical nature of criticising the duo for marrying (which is fine if they want to do it, but a couple of commenters here are appalled by it) but simultaneously suggesting that if they want to fuck, not marry, that's somehow 'less of an offence', which is the bizarre argument Gordon27 was describing. Neither act is an offence, both are great (especially - making the point since some didn't get where I was coming from - the fucking part with a MILF that freaking smokingly hot in the nude pic), and I'm puzzled by the idea that anyone here can criticise either of the duo for doing something they both want to do. Of course sex is okay (fuck you with your 'chaste penis' comment CitizenKanedforChewingGum for misreading my comment in the opposite direction of what I intended it to imply). Then again, maybe I phrased it badly.

Rushing right into marriage at whatever age gap = STUPID. And marrying somebody who just ended a 12 year old marriage a tad over a year back is extra stupid. It really does take time to get to know somebody well enough to know if it'll work out long term. And a movie set romance to boot? Oyyyyyyy...
