"Most conspiracy theorists don't understand this, but if there really were a C.I.A. plot [involving the assassination of President Kennedy], no documents would exist." -- Author Gerald Posner ("Case Closed") speaking to N.Y. Times reporter Scott Shane in a 10.16 story about whether the Central Intelligence Agency might be "covering up some dark secret" about JFK's murder? "Probably not," Shane writes. "But you would not know it from the C.I.A.'s behavior."

If you read "Deconstructing Sammy" the bio of Sammy Davis, Sammy believed the CIA was behind the assassination. If you read the bio of Sinatra, "Mr. S." he believed the Mafia was behind the assassination.
Who knows?

The only thing that's been covered up for 40 years is that Lee Harvey Oswald was a commie nut who killed an anticommunist president. He defected to the Soviet Union, he tried to shoot a rightwing general, and then he shot a president he blamed for his anti-Castro stand. Everything a sane person needs to know is in the two sentences above, yet for 40 years we've had to put up with this psychosis that there's some rightwing cabal in the CIA that killed Kennedy because he wasn't rightwing enough (even though he would be well to the right of any elected Democrat on earth today).

right on, Ronald.
people can't accept the truth so they make up conspiracy theories. The WTC went down quickly because it was wired to implode - that kind of bullshit.
there will always be people that will not accept the truth (that we are ultimately worm food), and that includes religious types.

Don't the conspiracy theories generally assume that the CIA is extremely competent?

Ronald: Kennedy may not have liked commies, but he was considering pulling out of Vietnam around the same time that he was assassinated. And Oswald must have been a helluva crack-shot to nail JFK in the back of the head from a frontal position.

If anybody ever thought the JFK conspiracy theory had any intellectual merit, DZ's support of it should conclusively prove that it doesn't.

They're competent at hit-jobs, and not much else. In fact, Plame was competent, and look what they did to her.

I'm sure I'm naive, but why doesn't Cage just sign up for National Treasure 3 (which I'm sure Disney would like to make) and use the $15-$20 million salary to pay off most if not all of his tax debt? Yes, I know a big chunk of said payday would go to forthcoming taxes, but it seems like a kickstart to financial solvency, if not an outright solution. Or not?

Sammy Davis Jr. later also thought that the mafia was involved in JFK's death, as he makes clear in his book "Yes I Can, If Frank Says It's Okay".
