Oscar Poll Reboot

L.A.Times/Gold Derby columnist Tom O'Neil has recalculated his Best Picture Oscar prediction poll with input from 16 pundits. Only The Hurt Locker and Invictus are supported by the whole crew. Precious and Up in the Air got 15 votes, two blew off Up and three blew off Nine. Ten voted for An Education and Avatar. And four have now joined me in supporting A Serious Man -- O'Neil, Robert Osborne, Steve Pond and Peter Travers.

The top 10 on that list seems like the most likely scenario to me. All this talk of Star Trek and The Hangover (especially the latter) is just nonsense.

And Lumenick is a freaking nut for picking 2012. I haven't seen it ... but there's no way that makes it. I can't imagine Sherlock Holmes even being in the running either.

lol, 2012. Why only 9 selections, Wells? They forget to print one, or did you just wuss out?

"No longer??" You make it sound like everyone was predicting it was going to be a BP nominee when it was released. No....they just weren't predicting it would make $20 million at the box office or whatever your lowballed, shitty estimate was.

What an incredible dumbfuck you are.

I don't get it. You liked him when he got in a bar-fight, but he says something out of turn when he's drunk, and it's over.

A few interesting picks, but seeing as how the BP race is a Top Ten list partly to revive interest in films from the early part of the year, you folks are missing one or two possibilities. The Soloist, if it gets the acting nods, is much more likely than Inglourious. Serious Man is the classic post-Oscar win Coens movie--inferior. With that many nominees, a Doc or a cartoon seems pretty likely to sneak in, though maybe not Up. Was it better than Coraline, aside from that lovely opening montage? No.
