It's not that I've chilled on Avatar anticipation. I was rocked by the special 3D ComicCon presentation, but the Avatar Day reel, as I wrote on 8,.22, left me "feeling a little Avatar-ed out...no bump-up...like before only less so...doesn't play as well the second time." I only know that every time I run Avatar in my head, I still see a flash of Bruno Ganz's Hitler. Intriguing as the latest trailer is, I can't expunge what's been, for me, the funniest fan-rant of the year. Sorry...it'll pass.
It's not that I've chilled on Avatar anticipation. I loved the 24-minute 3D reel that I saw at Comic-Con last July. But the 16-minute Avatar Day preview, as I mentioned on 8,22, "left me feeling a little Avatar-ed out...no bump-up...same as before only less so because an Avatar visual highlights reel doesn't wear as well the second time." The truth is that every time I run Avatar through my head, a flash of Bruno Ganz's Hitler comes to mind. The most recent trailer, intriguing as it is, hasn't expunged, for me, one of the funnest fan-rants of the year.

Ive only seen the bootleg of the new trailer (it arrives online Thursday).
But the 3.5 minute long bootleg version looked good.

Yeah, that new trailer is great. The Hitler schtick was mildly amusing, but honestly, that meme died a couple years ago. Back in the day of the Blu-Ray/HD-DVD or PS3/Xbox360 wars, it was a lot fresher (and funnier).

It looks even more like Ferngully Pocahontas on Naboo, the more dialogue we get. The second trailer is a 3 and a half minute commercial for a developmentally challenged boy's cowboys and Indians daydream.

It looks like the most incredible adventure movie for years. Cameron always delivers. Can't wait.

There's been a lot of talk about Cameron stealing a Poul Anderson for AVATAR.
However, it looks like the bad press has finally caused Cameron to change his mind:

Think someone needs to close the HTML brackets somewhere. Everything's italic!
I haven't seen any Avatar Day footage as yet, all I have to go on is the trailer, which personally hasn't done much for me. I think I'll need to see it in IMAX 3D to really get the "game-changing" impact, if indeed it's there.
