The Birds

I don't get the bird-flock metaphor. God's creatures flying up toward heaven and...is that it? Which gives us the idea that the little girl is running to some sort of heavenly fate except she can't fly...right? You do get a spiritual vibe from it (especially from the slogan), but it doesn't quite come together. A bit of a "hmmm" thing. Maybe this is just a teaser poster? (In Contention's Kris Tapley wondered the same thing.)

It's obviously a teaser. No billing block.

It appears to be about decomposition one level and then rebirth on another (don't miss the starbaby fetus in the clouds)

Starbaby fetus? You mean Stanley Kubrick's starchild fetus descended from earth orbit and manifested into a new form? I'm sorry, but I don't see it.

It's a pretty common image in some mythology that birds take souls to the afterlife, like reverse storks. The myth forms the basis of Robert E. Howard's terrific short story Pigeons from Hell.

I don't know if that's what they were shooting for, but it wouldn't surprise me.

I don't see it in the clouds either. However, metaphorically, I see how the dead leaves on the trees gradually becoming birds flying away could be a cool visual shorthand for death/rebirth/spirit soaring/whatever. I hope they don't spend much time in the movie on that, though.

It's very clear, lying on its back, it's eye in the 'V' and its hands above the second 'L'
