Back Again

Ever so often a few bars from a song that was briefly hot in your early youth but which no one plays or even thinks about just pops into your head. I haven't heard Keith's 98.6 in eons, but it came back to me today. Strange.

Thank god I'm too young to even know what you guys are talking about. But here's some fun from a comic I saw on twitter the other day: Try not to think about She Drives Me Crazy by Fine young Cannibals. Have a nice day.

Don't be concerned, it will not harm you
It's only me pursuing somethin' I'm not sure of
Across my dreams with nets of wonder
I chase the bright elusive butterfly of love

An expertly crafted piece of fluff.

Now you've got me hearing Carpenters songs in my head. Rainy days and Mondays always bring me down . . .

Oddly, I hear 'Lightning Strikes Again' at least once a month. And I don't even have it on my iPod.

I heard 'It's The End of the World As We Know It' today and realized I hadn't heard it in years; I still managed a respectable 75%.

Never heard that song on any of the oldies stations, but I have to say it's nice to once again experience a song which isn't lacking in purpose and full of ADD-inspired lyrics.

Off topic - the healthcare reform bill has passed in the House.
It's going to have a much harder time getting through the Senate, but it sure does feel good knowing that jackass Ronald McFirbank was wrong in pronouncing it dead straight off the bat.

I missed the 60s so songs like 98.6 and other Top40 hits of that era don't drive me crazy. This song does though:

I have a brother who is 9 years younger than me, and a Steely Dan fan. he can't understand why I hate them.

These 70s songs OWN!!!!

Along with Rose Garden, Lightning Strikes is one of my favorite oldies of all-time (also the titles of good tracks by Aerosmith and Dokken). Come to think of it, I can't think of too many bad songs with the word lightning in the title. Diamond Head, Paralex, Metallica, Live, Oasis, Yardbirds.

Not too fond of the Who's "Call Me Lightning," though. I always did prefer their heavier stuff to their "Beatley" songs.

Is this the first time DeeZee's ever expressed an actual opinion while staying on-topic? Reading that was a gigantic shock to the system.

I wasn't around for the 60's songs, either, but that doesn't mean you can't dig 'em up and get down.

I was around when The Maltese Falcon came out either, but it's still one of my favorites.

Hey Wells, thanks for illegally supplying a song to your readership. Which, by the way, is not in the public domain.

I reported to you to ASCAP this morning on behalf of artists everywhere. Nice to know you consider music piracy is acceptable. Why not post a download to one of the many DVD's in your collection?

Kaned - I think 'Call Me Lightning' has a really good riff, and it amuses me that, as far as I can tell, it's a song about premature ejaculation.
