The Girl on the Train

IFP Gotham Independent Award "Breakthrough Director" nominee Derick Martini (Lymelife) and Michelle Byrd, IFP Executive Director, at last night's IFP celeberation for the nominees of the "Best Film Not Playing at a Theatre Near You" award.

This is a private invitation to a private event (and the crop of this photo respects this), but the juxtaposition of the name of Jacob Dayan, senior representative of the State of Israel in the Southwestern United States, and the "o" Nazi swastika in the Inglourious Basterds title does seem a little jarring.

New Apple store on Upper West Side, almost right across from Lincoln Square plex at B'way and 68th. The store opened on 11.14.

For, like, half a second there, I thought the first caption read "Derek Mantini."
Also, one helluva cut cat, Jeff.

The Throne of Blood cover just reminded me that a restored print of Rashomon is starting a 1 week run at the Ritz Bourse her in Philadelphia. Can't wait to check it out. I've only ever seen it on the old Janus VHS.

And Criterion is releasing a 25 film box set of Kurosawa films next month, which includes a few never released on DVD before. Maybe I should buy a lottery ticket to try and win the $300 bucks to buy it.

Is this the start of Oscar campaigning for IBast? Is Tarantino a dog or a cat person?

Bandsaw Vigilante, I had my own double take when I thought I was reading that Jacob DYLAN was the consul general of Israel (of course the musician spells his first name "Jakob").
Not sure if that would be a step up or down from The Wallflowers.

I thought it said the same thing lazarus. I had to investigate then I noticed my error. Never really got into The Wallflowers. If memory serves, they had a few singles back in the ninties. Nothing too memorable though.
Your cat has a very sweet disposition, Jeff. At least it seems like it from the 40-odd second video...

The kitty is too cute. But seriously - they should dump the swastika. Really bad to publicize it like that.

Digital Bits says the following about the reissued "Let the Right One In":
"First, it seems that Magnolia has finally fixed that subtitle issue on DVD copies of Let the Right One In...the new DVD version is in stores now and it says "English (Theatrical)" right on the back where it lists the subs...There's still no word as to when Blu-ray copies with the theatrical subs will begin appearing in stores, but we'll keep our eyes peeled. Let us know if you spot them."
