Jeff: Friends don't let friends watch the Kino version of "Il Grido." Kino's done/does a lot of things right, this film wasn't one of them. To properly see "Grido" on home vid, you need a multi-region player and the Eureka!/Masters of Cinema UK edition.
I love that abstract comfort that happens when you've settled into a new place and rip open those boxes to discover which material things are most important to you.
My David Foster Wallace books? Those are going on the middle shelf next to the framed photos of friends and family. My film library? Upstairs by that floor lamp in the corner. My small gathering of porn? Under the fucking bed.
Hope you enjoy your new place, Jeff, and that Party Elephants (regardless of skin color) are nowhere to be found.
And I love the irony of Jeff buying the Criterion 2-disc set of "The Bicycle Thief", which has the supposedly incorrect translation of the title ("BICYCLE THIEVES") in such a large font it appears as if it is mocking him.

I'd strongly advise holding off on re-watching 8 1/2 til January, when it gets upgraded to BD on Criterion.

I don't think that webcam trick will save magazines unless they embedded some e-ink into the paper, now that would be cool...

While we're kind of on the topic of Criterion, the cover art for the "Hunger" BD coming out in February is gorgeous:
