Yes, I realize that Roger Durling's decision to invite The Blind Side star Sandra Bullock to take part in a Santa Barbara Film Festival dog-and-pony show means he's betting that she's got some serious Best Actress heat. (Tapped out on iPhone at AMC Lincoln Square before Up In The Air all-media.)

You'd better start now if you want to have some new excuses written by the time 'Avatar' tops your prediction that it can't do $200 million worldwide.

Then you either haven't seen Julie & Julia or you still subscribe to the dated and dispelled notion that what Streep does in her work is impersonation. Get a clue -- her performance in Julie & Julia is one of the freshest, most comedic performances onscreen this year. Her sense of humor in the role is impeccable, as is her timing.

One of them is at Kim Basinger's house, the other is at Kidman's.

I might agree, but Kim Basinger was iconic in LA Confidential. That one's a hard call for me.

"The Blind Side" is a pretty good film and Quinton Aaron as Michael Oher is quite good. Sandra Bullock gives one of her best performances, but I don't think it's award worthy.
