I'm perfectly fine with the pace of the subtitled narrative in Matt Zoller Seitz's video essay about Clint Eastwood's career-long theme of revenge, called "Kingdom of The Blind." Some have said it moves along too fast but not for me. MZS has nonethless said he'll be launching a version later today (possibly by noon) that will be friendlier to readers who prefer a slower pace..

Interesting piece. When I first started watching it, I thought Seitz was going to be critical of the revenge themes in Eastwood's work. Eventually that turns out not to be the case, although I thought the last dig about Eastwood's iconic status was gratuitous. I'll be interested to see his continued development of these themes, especially since High Plains Drifter is my personal favorite of Eastwood's films.

"High Plains Drifter": brutual revenge ghost story, but powerful and affecting none the less.
"The Outlaw Josie Wales." One of the finer films, much less Westerns, of the last 40 years.
