"The general vibe that Get Him to the Greek has in common with The Hangover could make it a surprise moneymaker," says HE's Moises Chiullan. "This is the 'let's get fucked up and have fun' flick that MGM was hoping Hot Tub could be. All they need to do is sneak it in college towns and the big cities during the week of release and they're good."

Has there ever been a less appealing pair of specimens on a movie poster?

Anyway, I don't think its quite like The Hangover, which had an appeal of "these guys are just like us, so it's funny!". Nobody is like these two. At least I hope not.

Hill looks totally out of his element and no one knows who the fuck Brand is in the U.S. So the most this thing can do is to serve as male counter-programming to SATC 2. Plus, it's hard to believe they kept the budget under $50 mil, if they shot in the U.K., L.A., and NYC.

It looks awful to be honest. Not nearly as interesting as the premise of The Hangover.

Jonah: Funniest man on Planet Earth.
Brand: Unfunniest man in the history of time.

Should make for an interesting contrast.

None of the Hangover cast were even close to being widely known when that was released, and now they're all big stars.

Can't understand the hostility towards this film, and/or Brand. Considering that it's a spin-off of a fairly widely liked comedy, in which Brand was acknowledged as being one of the funnier highlights, it seems strange that everyone's suddenly forgotten all the Sarah Marshall good will and has the knives out for this one.

By all accounts, the trailer doesn't show any of the best jokes, which is good news. I'm looking forward to it. All the reviews I've read so far have been stellar.

In my review linked above, I mention that I never saw Sarah Marshall and wasn't really familiar with Brand going in, but regardless dug the hell out of it. I really didn't expect to enjoy remotely as much as I did. It moves along at a good clip, and will surprise a lot of people if they just give it a try.

Hmm, that's an intriguing Chiullan recommendation, but I have to admit this poster really puts me on the side of "skip it for life" faster than Sasha Grey going down on a phallus.

Never heard of Brand either, until recently. Never seen him, or knows what he does. He was on Letterman last night, and I googled him during the show. Apparently he's not gay, which is definitely the vibe he gives to me. Anyway, a giant ugly stoner fat guy and some shrew-like non-gay gay guy on the poster -- I'm sure it'll make a ton of money.

"Apparently he's not gay, which is definitely the vibe he gives to me."

You're allowed to peacock as gay as you want when you're the British tabloids favorite poon hound of the decade (if not the last two).

But, somewhere on his radio show, he has a really funny story about giving a handjob in a bathroom once -- not even for money to support his heroin habit.

The ads for this thing look terrible, but I'm willing to give it the benefit of the doubt. It can't be worse than Hot Tub Time Machine (Yeah, it was funny, but it was a complete mess and an almost incompetently made movie. If you watch it again, notice how many "funny" lines are shoehorned in with ADR in the bg).

Having just seen Cyrus, I have a newfound respect for Hill, so I'm gonna give Greek a shot.

On Redbox.

Gordon: He did it for a show. I think it's on YouTube. Search for "re:Brand". He also did a good episode where he followed around some members of the far-right BNP party and challenged their views. It was pretty good TV.

Eloi: Not entirely true. Tyson probably put a few butts into seats. Everything else about The Hangover's success was due to marketing. Plus, the dudes in that film came off like loveable schlubs while Hill just looks totally out-of-place, and Brand acts like he has better things to be doing than co-starring in 'Greek. And Sarah Marshall was only partly liked, and actually disappointed for Apatow.

Winchester: I actually dug Hot Tub, but it needed more hot chicks.

Judging by Brand's appearance on Letterman, he looks like a twisted Weird Al Yankovic with the worst teeth/gum combo in the movies today.

I've seen the film. Screened at my university a few weeks ago. It's wildly hilarious (though not as consistently funny as The Hangover is), but overall it is not a good film. Just funny.
