This is the kind of speech Obama used to make on the campaign trail. Now I feel like we're caught in some narrative where we expect him to stand up for what's right. And he keeps backing off, like every other bought and paid for politician. But what Maddow says is right on the money: there is no way we can cap the spill. All we can do is call all experts from all over the world to help with the clean up.
"This is the kind of speech Obama used to make on the campaign trail."
You mean when he was just running for Prez instead of being Prez?
Like closing Guantanamo?

I understand the government not wanting to or not being able to take total control of capping the well, but for Obama to allow BP to continue to lead the cleanup along the coast and in the waters is completely and totally pathetic. She's dead on with that idea.
Rachel, the whole reason we're drilling down there is because people like you (and Jeff) won't let us drill in more easily accessible places. Let us drill in ANWR and the rest and this would have never happend because we wouldn't have needed to drill in the riskiest of locations.
It's easy to demagogue. It's much harder to actually lead. Something Maddow hasn't learned. And neither has Barack.
Farris: " the whole reason we're drilling down there is because people like you (and Jeff) won't let us drill in more easily accessible places. "
No, the reason we're drilling down there is because the oil companies have managed to buy out our government from doing its job of shifting us to alternate energy and a national rail system like you get in Asia and Europe.

Yeah, that's totally not risky after the Exxon thing.
Oh, please. Maddow as president would represent nothing and achieve nothing. Being a political leader is all about negotiation and the party room, not about giving orders.
