Lindsay Lohan doing another 120 days for parole violation (and not, apparently, over that "borrowed" necklace episode) isn't a bad thing as long as it doesn't get in the way of her playing Kim Gotti. Jail builds character, gives you street cred, persuades you to improve your social skills, etc.

She's not serving that long -- less than a month -- or maybe she'll be out in a few hours.

The only way she improves her lot is by getting away from those hideous parents of hers.

Maybe jail brings you "street cred" if you're a supposed gangsta rapper who's trying to sell to 13-year-old boys who walk around with their dirty underwear sticking out, but I don't know anyone who looks at Lohan and thinks, "Ooooh, that girl a real bad-azz!" She's gone from bankable teen idol to tragic joke in the space of a few years. I'm starting to wonder if anyone can save her, or if she's even serious about changing her life. I saw a picture of her earlier this week, and the woman looked like a 50-something floozy who hangs out at the dirtiest dive in town. It was shocking and saddening.

I didn't think anything could get a louder 'WHO GIVES A SHIT?!" out of me today after I heard a teaser on NPR earlier for some pointless piece on the royal wedding... until I saw this.
As for as the asinine statement that any jail experience Lohan experiences (where she will be kept as far as possible from the general population or Baca can kiss his job goodbye), it reminded me of an anecdote that Jane Hamsher relates in "Killer Instinct" about when Tarantino (who spent like one day in jail once, thinking it gave him street cred) lectures Oliver Stone (who spent 15 months in the Vietnam bush earning real cred along with a Bronze Star) about such things. The look that Stone gave him had to have been priceless.

There isn't anything about this that isn't sad...a truly talented kid who could've ruled along side Natalie Portman as a reigning top-of-the-heap A-list young actress...at this point, what she desperately needs is Robert Downey Jr. jail time...but unlike RDJ, Lohan manages to skate around the Los Angeles justice system like Dorothy Hamil picking up a gold medal....no matter how many judges huff and puff at her...she'll never spend more than a couple of days at a time incarcerated....which is why her moral compass will stay permanently out of whack...already smashed to pieces by her idiot parents.

I just spent a rewarding time with a friend who is fighting and beating a serious disease.
Then I come home and see this story. It just clicks in what a tremendous waste of time this girl has become. It's not sad at this point. It's old news, and she's not a film story anymore, at least not really, the only movie related story being this recent failure to get the role she wanted for this Gotti film. Who cares?
Time is too short for this shit.

They say America is a forgiving country, maybe for celebrities and athletes it is, but take a look at the unemployment numbers for felons. Hell, I have a friend who started a multi million dollar business, has a degree from a major university and can't get a job because she has a misdemeanor.
I've been in stir, so I know a little about this. For the poor, prison does nothing but make their lot in life much worse, make them angrier and less compassionate. For a pampered, sheltered and narcissistic white suburban kid, some time behind bars can go a long way towards teaching empathy, which is something a lot of people must learn through suffering. Hard not to hate this little ball of narcissistic energy, but her parents are fucking awful, and for that I feel some sympathy. She gets one more violation after this before she gets put on parole and if she fucks up then, she'll go real prison
Too bad, she has talent, unlike most of her generation. Unfortunately, like the rest of her generation, the art form she practices, is mostly a tool to get fame, which is just another tool to get what she, and the rest of this gen seem to really want....getting past the velvet rope and playing the Game.
