"Slick," "animated energy," "playful," "strangely compelling," "very silly," etc. As expected, 21 Jump Street (Sony, 3.16) is doing well by critics. But before this sank in I had a moment of...slight alarm when an invitation arrived yesterday to the 3.12 all-media screening in Manhattan. "Columbia Pictures Invites you and your family to a screening of 21 Jump Street," it said. The invitation to the LA all-media didn't use the "f" word so I figured the New York invitation was just an odd flourish.

I was a little underwhelmed when 21 Jump Street was announced as the big SXSW topliner, but the word on the street has been pretty good for at least a couple of weeks.

I saw 21 JUMP STREET and it's hilarious. I heard the buzz on Sony's new Adam Sandler flick THAT'S MY BOY is really really good. They're expecting a huge hit.

That's My Boy will be the rare R-rated Sandler comedy, and the rare Sandler film I see in a theater (maybe.........)

The "That's My Boy" trailer was painful. I don't know why Sandler's going with that dumb voice.

The family addition might have been a typo. Either the publicist was using a template or was copying and pasting an old email (probably of a family film) and forgot to edit that part.

Berg, no way. I saw it a month ago and it's beyond hilarious, truly. And this is coming from someone who thought the trailer was awful. It is inspired lunacy from first scene to last, with everyone playing dumb so smartly, with a lot of self-awareness -- the entire cast, including the two leads, Ice Cube, Dave Franco, etc., are all spot on and the timing is perfect. It's a throw-everything-up-on-the-wall proposition, and almost all of it sticks. Tatum and Hill have very cool chemistry and there's a real sweetness about their friendship at the heart of all this silliness. A very, very good time, and big surprise. The positive notices coming in are well-deserved.

Definitely not a "family" movie. Those who know [VAGUE HINT OF SPOILER] the outcome of the climax know what I'm talking about.
Even seeing the trailers that spoof drug use by the heroes should also make the rating obvious.

With that said, I think it's been overrated just because it's better than expected.

Sounds like a big, fat "skip" for me.
I'm with Rashad -- on which "street" did you hear this was actually any good (let me punchline my own terrible joke: Jump Street?)?
