Cloverfield [BLU-RAY] (Paramount Home Entertainment, 6.3.2008) Disguised under deliberately goofy, yet deliciously edible-sounding, aliases such as Cheese and Slusho, Matt Reeves' Cloverfield was produced and rushed into theaters under an equally appetizing shroud of secrecy. From last year's incredibly elusive Super Bowl ad to the film's viral marketing campaign, Cloverfield had everybody scratching their heads and drooling in anticipation. Aside from the as-yet untitled title and the Blair Witch-ian visual style, the film's biggest appeal was the enigmatic creature who was last (un)seen hurling the decapitated head of the Statue of Liberty onto the crowded streets of New York City. All we knew about the mysterious beast was that it was big and angry. Now that the highy-anticipated project has come and gone, one question has fortunately been answered: Cloverfield was a major success. (continued)

Dishing it out but Can't Take it

Wow, this Obama "house" ad has really got McCain's panties in a twist hasn't it? I mean why shouldn't it? Obama called out McCain for having too many houses, and that's WAY BELOW THE BAR! My God, did he really just say that? That's so much worse than tying Obama to Paris Hilton and Britney Spears, and way worse than calling him the anti-christ! I mean, where does Obama get off? (Can you sense my dripping sarcasm?)

McCain is SO pissed off, he's pulling out the big guns with another ad talking about Rezko's ties to Obama. This issue is so flat. He's clearly out of cards. Did it work when Clinton tried this bit?

What's really low is that McCain is saying Obama's ad is "opening the door to this." Are you kidding me? I don't want to get into a who-started-it-first? kind of tirade, but this is silly. The most laughable part of McCain's bitchiness is that he believes the "house" ad attacks Cindy McCain. "She owns the homes. I thought wives were off-limits," McCain said. Not once does the ad mention Cindy McCain or even show her picture. He's making the ad to be more personal than it really is. What a wimp.
