Cloverfield [BLU-RAY] (Paramount Home Entertainment, 6.3.2008) Disguised under deliberately goofy, yet deliciously edible-sounding, aliases such as Cheese and Slusho, Matt Reeves' Cloverfield was produced and rushed into theaters under an equally appetizing shroud of secrecy. From last year's incredibly elusive Super Bowl ad to the film's viral marketing campaign, Cloverfield had everybody scratching their heads and drooling in anticipation. Aside from the as-yet untitled title and the Blair Witch-ian visual style, the film's biggest appeal was the enigmatic creature who was last (un)seen hurling the decapitated head of the Statue of Liberty onto the crowded streets of New York City. All we knew about the mysterious beast was that it was big and angry. Now that the highy-anticipated project has come and gone, one question has fortunately been answered: Cloverfield was a major success. (continued)

British PM Brown Breaking Out

Obama has gotten the nod from British Prime Minister Gordon Brown, something past British Prime Ministers have avoided to prevent awkwardness if they ended up working with the other guy. This has happened before, and it's important not to do this until after the election since it might hurt the special relationship between the United States and the United Kingdom. However, since Brown has already done it, it's a nice endorsement that will go completely ignored because these nutty female Palin supporters couldn't care less.

One thing Americans forget about this special relationship is that it's been lopsided since WW2; Brits care more about the U.S. than we care about them. End of story. If the next President of the United States visited London, the Brits would go nuts and have a cow. Look on the newspapers out here in London, and there on the covers are pictures of Obama or McCain. When something happens in the UK, U.S. newspapers don't even bat an eye-lash.

Long story-short, this endorsement is meaningless.
