Cloverfield [BLU-RAY] (Paramount Home Entertainment, 6.3.2008) Disguised under deliberately goofy, yet deliciously edible-sounding, aliases such as Cheese and Slusho, Matt Reeves' Cloverfield was produced and rushed into theaters under an equally appetizing shroud of secrecy. From last year's incredibly elusive Super Bowl ad to the film's viral marketing campaign, Cloverfield had everybody scratching their heads and drooling in anticipation. Aside from the as-yet untitled title and the Blair Witch-ian visual style, the film's biggest appeal was the enigmatic creature who was last (un)seen hurling the decapitated head of the Statue of Liberty onto the crowded streets of New York City. All we knew about the mysterious beast was that it was big and angry. Don't Back Off!!!

In a recommendation to Joe Biden and his vice presidential debate with Palin in the less than a month, Slate writer Dahlia Lithwick wants Biden to not undermine Palin in the debate just so he doesn't come off as sexist. This is total bullshit!

Palin needs to be shown for the VP candidate she really is, a publicity stunt. Biden needs to get in the dirt and make her look like she doesn't have any answers. This is why Obama signed Biden onto the ticket, he's an attack dog. It's what he does best.

Make her answer tough questions on her policy ideas and her background. I don't care if Biden looks like a bully; this isn't ring-around-the-rosy! This is a debate for Vice President of the United States.

Like Denzel Washington said in "Training Day," "This shit is chess, this ain't checkers!"
