In preparation for Luca Guadagnino‘s Joie de Vivre, his seven-hour, fifteen-minute doc about Bernardo Bertoluccci, I’m going to rewatch Before The Revolution (’64), which I haven’t seen since 1977 or thereabouts… nearly 40 years. Francesco Barilli is such an impossibly morose, unsettled, highly conflicted young lad; Adriana Asti (who passed last year at age 94) is deliciously skittish and slutty…a moody tease, masterful at driving young men to madness.
