Sharon Horgan‘s recently surfaced Youth (HBO, 9.20) is sharp and vivacious and more or less a fun watch, but I became extremely upset when Horgan’s “Alex”, an attractive 50something, goes out with Tim McInnerny‘s “Michael”, a sexually unappetizing 70 year-old graying beardo.
Why in the world would a witty, whipsmart, visually appealing woman (especially one who looks like Horgan) even flirt with the idea of exchanging fluids with an old, gray-haired jelly-belly like McInnerney? Past his prime and then some…why? They actually talk about McInnerny going down on Horgan and vice versa…good effing God!
McInnerny is 70, Horgan is 55 and her best-option boyfriend, played by the 44 year-old Rupert Friend, comprise an odd triumvirate, to put it mildly.
