Shoulda Left Well Enough Alone

Yesterday I decided to re-watch Kent Jones‘ Late Fame, which I felt quietly ignited by after catching it nearly a year ago at the 2025 Venice Film Festival.

I should have left it there. It played okay but not as well. Some films are oners, and others can be enjoyed over and over.

i knew what was coming and had sussed it all out, and there was nothing left to discover. I became more and more impatient, and the Jacob Burns sound wasn’t as sharp and clear as it was inside the Sala Darsena.

This aside, those who haven’t seen Late Fame should definitely make the effort. Modest but effective character-driven dramas that shoot straight and are carefully honed are rare.
