Ed Wood is HE’s all-time favorite Tim Burton film, and the harem-dancing scene [below] is my second favorite scene in this 1994 Touchstone release, second only to the “Bela Lugosi wrestles with the rubber octopus in the pond” scene.
The dignity and empathy that Martin Landau brought to his Oscar-winning Lugosi performance…one of the greatest supporting performances of all time. Seriously.
The thing I loved about Bill Murray‘s “John Bunny Breckinridge” is that he played the character with tiny little hints of “not really”…faint spritzings of camp, a little bit mockingly. It was Murray’s way of telling the audience that his version of “Bunny” doesn’t actually chow down or bend over, Sam Rockwell-style. He just flits around ironically…a kidding-around, old-school, way-before-Ru Paul thing.
