The Academy has announced a list of 71 movies submitted for possible consideration as a Best Foreign Language Film Oscar nominee. The following are my guesstimates for the 2012 films most likely to appear on the Academy’s shortlist with my personal favorites boldfaced:
(1) Amour, d: Michael Haneke (Austria); (2) Children of Sarajevo, d: Aida Begic (Bosnia and Herzegovina), (3) No, d: Pablo Larrain (Chile); (4) A Royal Affair, d: Nikolaj Arcel (Denmark); (5) The Intouchables, d: Olivier Nakache and Eric Toledano (France); (6) Barbara, d: Christian Petzold (Germany); (7) Fill the Void, d: Rama Burshtein (Israel); (8) Kon-Tiki, d: Joachim Ronning and Espen Sandberg (Norway); (9) Beyond the Hills, d: Cristian Mungiu (Romania); (10) Sister, d: Ursula Meier (Switzerland).
What am I missing?
