Even Christian Bale has toplined his share of wipeouts outside the Batman franchise. I think we’ve heard this one before. If the public smells a stinker or a rental or what-have-you, stars mean nothing. It’s the bolt, it’s the buzz — i.e., what the film has in its heart or its head. Stars are tinsel.
