The horrific truth is that a significant percentage of Trump’s base is quietly (and in some cases not so quietly) behind what they see as a necessary historical standoff of whites against cultures of color — a kind of civil guerilla war that may lead to God knows what, and God help the victims when the next mass murder occurs. This is real. This is not just rhetoric. This is a real-life nightmare. A tinderbox. Trump has clearly fanned the flames of white supremacy, and will continue to do so. Biden: “[He has] more in common with George Wallace than George Washington.”
